Artificial Intelligence

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is the ability of a machine to perform cognitive functions as humans do, such as perceiving, learning, reasoning and solving problems. AI can optimize routine processes, which frees humans to spend more quality time working in the areas of their expertise.

AI is used in a number of different ways in the Amplio platform, including AI-powered activities that automatically personalize target words or skills for each student, algorithms that find correlation between reading accuracy and fluency and the blending and segmentation of words. The Amplio platform also leverages AI to recognize patterns over time, predict the type of support the student needs from the educator, and offer alternative activities based on student engagement.

Natural Language Processing

NLP (Natural Language Processing) is a subfield of artificial intelligence focused on enabling computers to understand and process human languages. NLP can be used to create systems like speech recognition, machine translation question answering and more.

Together with AI, Amplio uses NLP to understand and analyze speech and reading mistakes, showing the educator or therapist where the student needs more assistance.

Big Data and Decision Support Systems

Modern Decision Support Systems can take extremely large data sets and provide data-driven recommendations, much in the way that traffic apps recommend routes to avoid congestion, medical diagnostic software helps diagnose illness, and farmers use crop-planning tools to determine the best time to plant.

While the students are engaged on the Amplio platform, their activities are analyzed and measured, generating millions of data points. Amplio can help predict what works best for each student and offers educators individualized treatment recommendations.
